ECLIPSES   during   2008

 

 

There will be total Four (04)  Eclipses during the year 2008. 

Two (02) will be Lunar Eclipses (of Moon)  and 

Two (02) will be Solar Eclipses (of Sun).

 

 

Annular Eclipse of the SUN  –  Thursday  07th February 2008   ( Not Visible in Pakistan )

It will be visible from a wide track, that traverses Antarctica and southern regions of the Pacific Ocean. A partial eclipse will be seen within the much larger path of the Moon's penumbral shadow, which includes the southeastern third of Australia, all of New Zealand and most of Antarctica. It will NOT be visible from Pakistan.

Total Eclipse of the  MOON  –  Thursday  21st February 2008   ( Partially Visible in Pakistan )

                  

It will be visible from South America and most of North America as well as Western Europe, Africa, and western Asia. The partial phase can be seen for sometime in Pakistan as well.  During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon's disk can take on a dramatically colorful appearance from bright orange to blood red to dark brown and (rarely) very dark gray.

Total Eclipse of the  SUN  –  Friday  01st August 2008   ( Partially Visible in Pakistan )

 

The total eclipse of the Sun is visible from a narrow corridor that traverses half the Earth. The path of the Moon’s umbral shadow begins in Canada and extends across northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia, and China where it will end at sunset. The partial eclipse is seen within the much broader path of the Moon’s penumbral shadow, which includes northeastern North America, and most of Europe and Asia including Pakistan.
